Death Reports State Health Agencies (Lee Becker)
On Jan. 11, Oconee County s St. Gabriel of Athens personal care home off Virgil Langford Road reported to the Department of Community Health its first two deaths from COVID-19 among its residents.
On Jan. 20, St. Gabriel s reported three more deaths from COVID-19, and on Jan. 26 it reported one more death.
The next day, Jan. 27, it reported two more, bringing its total to eight.

On Jan. 22, Oconee County s St. Mary s Highland Hills Village personal care home, 1660 Jennings Mill Road, reported to the Department of Community Health the death of one of its residents from COVID-19.

House Appropriations Human Resources Subcommittee
Chairman Katie Dempsey (R-Rome) and her Human Resources Subcommittee spent a part of President’s Day hearing more specifics regarding the FY 2022 Budget needs, particularly around the areas of the Departments of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities, Human Resources (including Division of Family and Children’s Services), Veterans Services, Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities and Georgia Vocational Rehabilitation Agency. CHATHAM COUNTY, Ga. (WTOC) - Memorial Healthâs plans to build two freestanding ERs in Bryan County and Pooler have hit a snag. We first told you about the project a year agoâMemorial Health plans to build freestanding ERs equipped with staff and specialized equipment to help with emergencies.
But for now, those projects are halted after the state granted an appeal filed by competing healthcare networks.
Catherine holds a PhD (2006) in Epidemiology from the University of Heidelberg, and a Master of Science (2002) in Community Health and Health Management.
She is the Director of Research at the African Population and Health Research Center (APHRC) where she joined as a Post-doctoral Fellow in May, 2006. Her research interests are in the epidemiology of non-communicable diseases in the African region and in health systems strengthening.
Catherine is an Alumnus of the University of Heidelberg having completed her doctoral studies in Epidemiology in the then Department of Tropical Hygiene and Public Health, under the auspices of the Graduertienkolleg 793 in April 2006. She also obtained a Master of Science degree in Community Health and Health Management in 2002 from the same department.
