ETSU announces new Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs

Following an extensive national search, Kimberly D. McCorkle has been named as the new Provost and Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs at East Tennessee State University. She will assume this role in July, succeeding Dr. Wilsie S. Bishop, who is retiring at the end of June following 43 years of distinguished service to the university. McCorkle comes to ETSU from the University of West Florida, where she has spent the past 19 years and currently serves as Vice Provost and Professor. She was named Interim Vice Provost in 2017 and assumed the role on a permanent basis the following year. “I am honored to join ETSU as Provost at such an important time in the university’s history,” McCorkle said. “As we move forward with our strategic visioning process, I am dedicated to supporting our outstanding faculty as we continue to focus on the mission of supporting student success while providing high quality academic programs and advancing our research contributions.

INEC Reorganises, Create Two New Departments

Chuks Okocha in Abuja The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) yesterday announced a reorganisation of its Department of Legal Services, Clearance and Complaints (LSC&CC) and that of Voter Education and Publicity (VEP). In a statement by INEC’s National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr. Festus Okoye, the commission said the reorganisation was part of efforts to reposition INEC for greater efficiency ahead of 2023 general election. He added that the re-organisation took immediate effect. He said: “As the commission prepares for major off-cycle governorship elections and the 2023 general election, it has become imperative to review and realign some of its departments for improved effectiveness and efficient management of its human resources and assets.”

Centre lauds INEC for creating gender, inclusivity depts

By Tue Apr 27 2021 The Centre for Transparency Advocacy (CTA) has commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for its re-organisation that led to the creation of the Gender and Inclusivity Department (GID) that hitherto was a unit in the commission. The Executive Director of the centre, Faith Ossai Nwadishi, in a statement, expressed joy that INEC was poised to reposition itself bearing in mind the realities of today and the need to promote inclusiveness in its operations. She also noted that in this new arrangement, INEC created two departments out of the present Department of Legal Services, Clearance and Complaints (LSC&CC) and that the new departments are Department of Litigation and Prosecution (DL&P) and Department of Legal Drafting and Clearance (LDCD).
