Officials question increase in incidents at Wilder Youth Development Center Jacque Masse
Two groups of teens recently tried to escape the Wilder Youth Development Center in Somerville, Tennessee.
Three teenagers escaped last Wednesday while at least four juveniles attempted to escape and were captured on Monday night.
The Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and community want to know why this continues to happen at the state-run facility.
“We definitely see an increase in the number of incidents occurring, and that’s of concern to us,” said Fayette County Chief Deputy Ray Garcia.
Monday night, four to six juveniles escaped their dorms at the Wilder Youth Development Center then tried to climb over the security fence.

NAACP, mother say autistic 8-year-old was abused

The local NAACP has demanded transparency in the handling of an alleged abuse case of an 8-year-old boy by a Parkview Behavioral Health staff member.
Shanita Redd, the boy s mother, also demanded justice tonight during a news conference at the NAACP office on South Calhoun Street.
Redd said her son, Malachi Redd, was taken to Parkview Behavioral by a Crisis Intervention Team officer due to suicidal thoughts. He was admitted on April 29. On May 1, Redd went to visit Malachi and saw that he had severe swelling and bruising on his face.
