The converters, which police say were leaving the province, have an estimated value of close to $750,000. The Saint John Police Force says arrests and charges are anticipated. Since December of last year, police in Saint John have received over 50 reports of stolen catalytic converters from vehicles. Police are asking anyone who had a catalytic converter stolen from their vehicle,and have not yet reported it, to contact the Saint John Police Force. The investigation is ongoing.

The crime occurred on March 13th. Police are looking for a man in connection with the incident. He is described as 20 to 30 years old with dark hair in a buzzcut, pale skin and a tattoo of white angel wings on both sides of his face. On Tuesday, police say the driver was pulled over by what looked like an unmarked police vehicle. But when the occupant approached, the driver didn’t believe they were an officer, and called the police force to confirm. They said there was no officer in the area making a traffic stop at that time. City police say residents are within their rights to question officers when they are pulled over, and if anything seems suspicious during a traffic stop to call the police force.
