BARNESVILLE â Fire caused severe damage to a home in Ryan Township on Saturday, leaving one person homeless.
Firefighters were called to 20 Sherwood Drive, just off Hillside Drive, around 10:15 a.m. and found heavy smoke coming from one side of the house.
Ryan Township Fire Company Capt. Matt Morgan said it was determined the fire started in a first-floor front room of the two-story house and spread to several parts of the home.
Although firefighters know where the blaze began, the exact cause remains under investigation, Morgan said.
He said state police fire marshal Trooper John F. Burns of the Frackville station was at the scene Saturday afternoon to assist in determining the exact origin of the blaze.
