HACIENDA HEIGHTS (CNS) - A 22-year-old man suspected of sexually assaulting a 79-year-old woman after breaking into her home in Hacienda Heights was arraigned yesterday.
Manuel Soto allegedly entered the woman s home in the 1300 block of Kwis Avenue through a window between 2-5 a.m. on May 2 and woke her from her sleep before physically and sexually assaulting her, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga of the Sheriff s Information Bureau.
Soto fled the scene and the woman informed a family member who called 9-1-1.
The woman was taken to a hospital and treated for injuries, Arteaga said.

Dec. 27 A photographer who documented Southern California car culture died at an illegal street racing event in Carson Friday, Dec. 25, after two vehicles veered into spectators.
Daniel “Dano” Patten, who lived in Huntington Beach, was fatally struck on Christmas day at about 1:30 p.m. near East 230th and Banning Streets in Carson, his brother, Orange resident Russ Patten said. Daniel Patten was filming drag races at what sheriff’s officials said was an illicit gathering.
“I did tell him on Christmas, when we talked, ‘Be careful going out to the street races, ” said his friend, Irvine resident Brian Almas. “A couple of the guys who were with him said, ‘Hey Dano we need to leave, this is dangerous today. ”
1 Killed, 1 Injured In East Los Angeles Shooting; Investigation Ongoing Syndicated Local – CBS Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES (CBSLA) A man was killed and another person wounded in an East Los Angeles shooting on Monday night.
The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. in the 5600 block of Via Corona Avenue near East Beverly Boulevard.
Two victims were found suffering from gunshot wounds, said LASD Deputy Morgan Arteaga.
One of them was pronounced dead at the scene and the other was taken to a hospital for surgery, according to officials.
It’s unclear what led up to the shooting or the victims’ relationship to the shooter, whose identity is unknown.

Three men were in custody following four separate shootings Sunday in Altadena that left three people wounded.
The Los Angeles Sheriff s Department reported gang detectives took three men who matched descriptions of the men wanted in the shootings into custody. Their names were not immediately available.
The shootings began about 12:10 p.m., Deputy Morgan Arteaga said.
The first shooting happened in the 3100 block of Santa Anita Avenue and left a 49-year-old man wounded, Arteaga said.

ALTADENA (CBSLA) Three people were injured on Sunday in four shootings in the city of Altadena, officials said.
Gang detectives later took three men into custody whose names were not immediately available.
The first shooting happened around noon in the 3100 block of Santa Anita Avenue and left a 49-year-old man injured, according to Deputy Morgan Arteaga with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
Afterward, in the 2600 block of Fair Oaks Avenue about 30 minutes later, shots rang out but no one was hit by the gunfire, Arteaga said.
