Time for Sinn Féin to face up to its past as we seek to unite the people of this island – Carroll MacNeill
25th April 2021 - Jennifer Carroll MacNeill, TD
It is time for Sinn Féin to face up to its past as we seek to unite the people of this island, Fine Gael TD Jennifer Carroll MacNeill has said.
“With her recent remarks in relation to the 1979 tragedy at Mullaghmore, Deputy Mary Lou McDonald, as leader of Sinn Féin, is clearly not yet at a stage where she can offer apologies or admit that the killing of Lord Mountbatten, Lady Brabourne, his grandson Nicholas and his friend Paul Maxwell was wrong.
Sinn Féin held the data of millions of Irish people in London & Frankfurt without their consent – Cummins
22nd April 2021 - Senator John Cummins
Sinn Féin must answer why they stored the data and voting intentions of millions of Irish people, initially in London and then Frankfurt, without their consent, Fine Gael Senator John Cummins has said.
The Waterford Senator said Deputy Mary Lou McDonald’s responses on Newstalk radio today, when questioned about Sinn Féin’s transnational international database and social media operation, have serious consequences for the entire Irish electorate.
“Until this story was published a week ago, not a single person, bar senior Sinn Féin figures involved in this secret operation, were aware that their data was being kept abroad and then used to compare to a major social media operation to elicit their future voting intentions,” Senator Cummins said.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald has said that the party s voter database, known as Abú, is held on servers in Germany.
During an interview with Newstalk, Deputy McDonald said that Abú contains the returns from canvases and that the information is stored in Frankfurt.
She explained that the server was located in London, but after Brexit its location had to change. She said that the database is legally stored in the European Union.
Ms McDonald said that Abú is an old fashioned canvassing system that is no longer compiled with a pen and paper, but rather held electronically.

The Dublin Association of An Taisce along with a number of local residents associations also raised concerns over the plan.
An Bord Pleanala has given the green light to contentious plans for a 297 unit shared co-living scheme on the site of Phibsborough shopping centre.
The appeals board has granted planning permission despite Sinn Féin leader, Mary Lou McDonald arguing that to grant planning permission for the scheme would be intolerable
The objection by Deputy McDonald was one of just under 20 that were lodged with An Bord Pleanala against the scheme on Dublin s north-side by the owners of the Phibsborough shopping centre, MM Capital.
