KUALA LUMPUR: Some 565 Community Based Rehabilitation Centres (PDK) received allocations totalling RM85.6 million this year, said Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.
Detailing the matter, Siti Zailah said the total allocation benefited 19,304 trainees and 3,372 PDK supervisors throughout the country.
”The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry (KPWKM) through the Social Welfare Department (JKM) channeled the financial assistance to the 565 PDK even through they were not operating throughout the Movement Control Order (MCO) period.

KUALA LUMPUR: There were 3,872 cases of child abuse as of Sept 2020 compared to 6,061 in 2019 and 5,758 in 2018, says Datuk Siti Zailah Mohd Yusoff.
Speaking in the Dewan Rakyat on Monday (Dec 14), the Deputy Women, Family and Community Development Minister said that financial problems, drug addiction and mental health issues are some of the main reasons for child abuse.
Siti Zailah said that 1,120 of the cases recorded this year were for physical abuse, while 1,373 were for sexual abuse, 131 for emotional abuse and 1,251were for child neglect.
She said this when responding to a question from Sabri Azit (PAS-Jerai), who had expressed concern in a rise in cases citing the recent incident where a father stabbed his 18-month old daughter in Puchong.
