A LOVE of the Irish language and the country s history as well as a strong belief in the importance of education have shaped Carol Nolan s life since childhood.
Now a high-profile Independent TD, the primary school teacher and Cadamstown native was originally elected a Sinn Féin Dail Deputy for Offaly in 2016 but left the party after a very public falling out over the contentious issue of abortion in June 2018.
She was re-elected as an Independent member for the reconstituted Laois/ Offaly five-seater last year and sits in Dáil Eireann as a member of the Rural Group of Independent TDs.

Both Laois and Offaly local authorities are poised to make to make €2.6 million available for home adaptations for older people, those with a disability and people with mobility issues, according to one local TD this week.
Deputy Carol Nolan Nolan was speaking after she confirmed with the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage, that the fund is 80% exchequer funded with the additional 20% funding from the relevant local authority:
“Accessing grants of this nature has always been a priority for my older constituents and indeed those facing challenging and often unexpected mobility issues.
