Profile of Alban Bagbin JAN 7, 2021 Born on September 24, 1957, at Sombo in the Upper West Region, Mr Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin is a graduate of the University of Ghana (1977-1980) and the Ghana School of Law (1980 -1982). He holds an Executive Masters in Governance and Leadership from the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA). His parents were Mr. Sansunni Bagbin and Mrs. Margaret B. Bagbin who were both peasant farmers. Mr. Bagbin is the fourth child of nine children of Margaret Bagbin and the thirteenth of the Bagbin family. The Speaker of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic is married to Mrs. Alice Adjua Yornas Bagbin, the Programme Officer of the United Nations Children Fund (UNICEF) office in Ghana.

705 The Functional Executive Committee (FEC) of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has nominated the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban S. K. Bagbin, for Speaker in the eighth Parliament. The nomination of the current MP for Nadowli-Kaleo followed the FEC meeting in Accra yesterday. It also retained its leadership for the eighth Parliament, nominating the current Minority Leader, Mr Haruna Iddrisu, as the Majority Leader; the Deputy Minority Leader, Dr James Klutse Avedzi, as the Deputy Majority Leader and the Minority Chief Whip, Mr Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka, as the Majority Chief Whip. The others are the First Deputy Minority Whip, Mr Ibrahim Ahmed, as the First Deputy Majority Whip and the Second Deputy Minority Whip, Mrs Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe, as the Second Deputy Majority Whip.
