MACON, GEORGIA (41NBC/WMGT) – A 12-year-old boy in Orange County, Florida is using his organization to honor the life of Bibb County Deputy Christopher Knight.
Zechariah Cartledge created his own non-profit organization at the age of 10. It is called Running 4 Heroes. The mission of his organization is to raise funds for the
Injured First Responder Grant and pay tribute to fallen heroes through running. He runs one mile for fallen law enforcement members and then posts the videos to his social media pages.
Thursday night, Cartledge ran one mile for Deputy Knight. The 30-year-old deputy died Monday morning following an incident inside the Bibb County Jail where an inmate stabbed him with a knife. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office says Knight’s funeral is planned for Tuesday, April 13th at 2:00pm at Macon City Auditorium.

Kemp orders flags lowered to half-staff for slain Bibb County deputy

Deputy Christopher Knight, 30, was stabbed at the county jail early Tuesday morning as he was helping to move an inmate on suicide watch to another cell, investigators said. A fight broke out and an inmate was able to grab a knife off of Knight and stab the deputy twice with it.
He was rushed to an area hospital where he later was pronounced dead.
On Friday, Gov. Kemp issued an executive order lowering the flags to half-staff through April 13. In a tweet, the governor wrote:

MACON, Ga. Deputy Christopher Knight worked the overnight shift at the Bibb County jail.
His mother, Cheryl Knight, says despite the hours, he loved his job.
Knight says as a kid, her son was respectful and always had a smile. If you got to meet him, you would instantly like him, he s just the kind of person, he just had that infectious personality that you just like him immediately once you meet him, she says.
