There’s no more snow, ice or sleet in the weather forecast, but accumulations left over from three storms in eight days will still be causing some travel difficulties for a little while.
The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet trucks had gotten I-24 and the Pennyrile Parkway mostly clear as of mid-morning Thursday. Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Miller says state, county and city crews have been hard at work, but secondary routes remain the main trouble spots.
Three people were seriously injured in a weather-related crash Tuesday morning on I-24 in Christian County.
A semi was stopped with traffic on the eastbound side near the 71 mile-marker when it was rear-ended by a pickup that was hauling a trailer with a vehicle on it, according to Deputy Chris Miller.
Another semi then struck the rear of the pickup, causing severe damage.
All three occupants of the pickup had to be extricated by the Christian County Rescue Team. Two males were taken to Jennie Stuart Medical Center and a female was flown to Vanderbilt University medical center with multiple serious injuries.
One person was hurt in a two-vehicle accident Tuesday morning on I-24 in Christian County.
It happened a little before 8 a.m. and Christian County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Miller says Kris Torbenson of Hopkinsville was merging onto I-24 from Fort Campbell Boulevard and pulled in front of an eastbound semi.
The driver was not able to stop and rear-ended Torbenson’s car.
Torbenson complained of back injuries and was taken by EMS to Tennova Health Hospital in Clarksville. ); } return false; }); $( #comments .commentlist .comment-content a ).attr( target , blank );
