Man killed by irate mob after dismembering wife over land dispute

[Courtesy] A man, who hacked his wife to death over a land dispute, was lynched and his body set ablaze by irate villagers in Ndumbu village, Mbooni East, Makueni County. Boniface Mutua, 74, is reported to have returned home following the outbreak of Covid-19 having fled for over 20 years after selling his family’s piece of land. His wife, Ruth Kavisu Mutua, 71, now deceased, however, refunded the buyer and revoked the title deed. On his return, Mutua is said to have demanded the title deed, a position Kavisu and her children resisted.

Three killed, NPR officer injured in fresh clashes along the Garissa-Isiolo border, several houses torched

Security officers have been dispatched to Kampi Samaki in Garissa as clashes heat up. [Abdimalik Hajir, Standard] There have been longstanding feuds between the Borana in Isiolo and Somalis from Garissa over boundaries and pasture. The militias who are also believed to have stolen an AK47 rifle and a magazine from Keinan have been torching homes in the village since 1pm when they raided.   Security sources told The Standard that a rescue team from Benane Police Station was dispatched but appeared overwhelmed by the unknown number of bandits holed up in the village. Another contingent of officers has been deployed from Modogashe, while a team from Garbatulla Police Station dispatched to the scene was yet to access the area even as villagers scampered for safety.
