Cano, 30, realized she needed help to get the short- and long-term health benefits of breastfeeding for moms and babies. New studies also have shown that covid-vaccinated mothers pass protective antibodies on to their newborns. However, Cano lives in Montrose in western Colorado, 60 miles away from her lactation counselor, Ali Reynolds, in Grand Junction and it was during the thick of the pandemic.

DOH-Pasco and WIC Recognize World Breastfeeding Week | Florida Department of Health in Pasco

The Florida Department of Health in Pasco County (DOH-Pasco) and the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) are celebrating World Breastfeeding Week 2021 from August 1 – 7, 2021. This year’s theme is Protect Breastfeeding: A Shared Responsibility. DOH-Pasco is observing World Breastfeeding week by participating in The West Coast Breastfeeding Taskforce’s Big Latch On, a drive-thru and tailgate event on Saturday, Aug. 7 from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. This event will be at DOH-Hernando located at 7551 Forest Oaks Blvd. in Spring Hill. In addition, DOH Pasco is participating in a free breastfeeding photo shoot and celebration for Black Breastfeeding Week on Saturday, Aug. 21 at Sprigs Studio located in Ybor City.
