Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and Nurses, International Medical Corps is a private, voluntary, nonpolitical, nonsectarian organization. Its mission is to improve the quality of life through health interventions and related activities that build local capacity in underserved communities worldwide. By offering training and health care to local populations and medical assistance to people at the highest risk, and with the flexibility to respond rapidly to emergency situations, International Medical Corps rehabilitates devastated health care systems and helps bring them back to self-reliance.

(Photo courtesy of Mr. Ernesto Alcanzare, Yes For Peace - Bayanihan ng Bayan lead organizer) The Whole of Nation approach to ending the armed conflicts being pursued by the National Task Force to End the Local Communist Armed Conflicts (NTF-ELCAC) is anchored on good governance and would entail direct people’s participation.  Given limited resources of the government, the NTF-ELCAC has focused on eight hundred (800) barangays liberated from the influence and clutches of the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front (CPP-NPA-NDF) to prove that the communist armed conflict can be ended through good governance.
