JAMMU, Feb 16: In first major row after establishment of third-tier of Panchayati Raj System in Jammu and Kashmir, all 14 District Development Council (DDC) Members including chairperson Bharat Bushan, vice chairperson Suraj Singh, two Independents and even National Conference Member boycotted maiden meeting of the Council called for vetting PMGSY-III roads on the ground that the chairman was informed about the meeting just an hour before schedule and that letter written by an officer in the district administration was “in violation of the protocol and insult to the newly created democratic institution.”

JAMMU, Feb 16: Finally, vast population of 43 villages situated within 0 to 6 kilometres from the International Border (IB) is all set to get justice as Lieutenant Governor’s Mulaqaat Programme has paved the way for their inclusion in the lists for obtaining reservation benefit, which was denied to them inadvertently by the administration last year.
The decision about granting three percent reservation to the people living within six kilometres from the International Border in the direct recruitment for Government jobs, admission in professional institutions and post-graduate courses on the lines of people living along the Line of Control (LoC) with Pakistan was taken in the year 2019.

JAMMU: Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Sushma Chauhan today launched a dedicated portal http:/jammuddcresults.in for dissemination of election results to the general public on near real time basis.
The portal will facilitate online round wise results, leading candidate details as well as details of winning candidates.
The portal was launched in presence of political representatives at a meeting convened by Deputy Commissioner Jammu for briefing the candidates and political representatives about the DDC elections counting process, to be held tomorrow.

JAMMU: Principal Secretary to the Lieutenant Governor, Sh. Nitishwar Kumar conducted a whirlwind tour of Jammu city in which he inspected various prestigious projects being undertaken by Jammu Smart City Ltd.
Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Sh. Sanjeev Verma and Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Ms. Sushma Chauhan who is also the CEO, Jammu Smart City Ltd. accompanied the Principal Secretary.

JAMMU, Dec 15: Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha today visited Purmandal- Utterbehni area and Mansar-Surinsar twin lakes to review the progress on comprehensive plans being put in place for the development of these religious and tourist destinations and issued on spot instructions for speedy development of the area.
During his visit, Sinha took stock of the project for development of the Purmandal- Utterbehni religious tourism circuit under Pilgrimage Rejuvenation and Spiritual Augmentation Drive (PRASAD).
He took a detailed review of developmental projects at Purmandal which included construction of paved path/track to the temple complex, construction of view points, up-gradation of bathing ghats, installation of focus light and poles with high mast lights and solar lights.
