Over a dozen East Boston restaurants are expected to take advantage of the City of Boston’s 2021 outdoor dining program that is set to begin on March 22. This is an earlier start than the previously-announced date of April 1.  “The countdown to patio and roof deck season in Boston was just officially moved up to March 22,” said Cunard Tavern owner Phil Frattaroli. “Now It’s just four more days until March 22 when we’ll see all of you on the patio.” The Cunard was one of 13 Eastie restaurants to receive a special permit from the city that allows local restaurants to set up outdoor patios on roadways and sidewalks throughout the neighborhood. The program helped restaurants increase capacity during the COVID-19 pandemic while keeping customers and staff safe.
