Man killed in snowy crash in Hillsdale County

HILLSDALE COUNTY, MI – A man was killed in a car crash Sunday afternoon in Wright Township.
The 24-year-old Hillsdale County man was driving north on U.S. 127 near Broom Road in the southeast corner of Hillsdale County at around 3:30 p.m. Jan. 31, when he lost control of his vehicle in a snow drift, Michigan State Police said.
The car turned sideways, crossed the road’s center line and was hit by a pickup driving south on U.S. 127.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released his name.

Law enforcement agencies respond to more than 35 crashes on snow-covered roadways

Five members of a Salesville area family escaped with only minor injuries when the vehicle they were traveling in was involved in a rollover accident on Fairground Road Wednesday afternoon.
The driver, Madelyn Caughron, 39, and four children, Becky, 15; Jennifer, 11; Timothy, 8; and Jimmy, 5, were treated at the scene by medical personnel from the Old Washington Volunteer Fire Department.
The accident was one of more than 35 crashes reported on snow-covered roadways in Guernsey and Noble counties as a storm moved through southeastern Ohio leaving behind several inches of snow.
