Bloomington, Ind., April 30, 2021 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) The Arkansas Division of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), in partnership with Solution Tree, a national professional development provider, has selected the fifth cohort of schools for their ongoing program to develop and expand the Professional Learning Communities at Work process across Arkansas.
In addition to the 39 schools and five districts chosen since the project began in 2017, 13 schools and 2 districts have been selected to serve as working models for the professional learning community project for the 2021-2022 school year. As part of the project, these schools will receive up to 50 days of training, coaching and support to build and sustain a strong culture of collaboration that will enhance student learning.
Arkansas Secretary of Education Johnny Key addressed a group of teachers and administrators at Hamburg High School on Monday during a celebration event marking the completion of a three-year Professional Learning Community (PLC) program at Hamburg High School.Â
The PLC process, which was implemented in coordination with education publisher and public development provider Solution Tree, includes job-embedded training, observation and coaching.Â
âThe PLC Process does not replace the knowledge you have; it allows you to bring it to a larger group,â Key said.Â
Schools in the program create action plans that focus on increasing student achievement through aligned curriculum, formative assessments and proven instructional strategies.Â

St. Augustine Plein Air Paint Out
April 22-25: The St. Augustine Plein Air Paint Out will feature artists painting outdoors at St. Augustine locations, with the artwork then on display at the St. Augustine Art Association. Outdoor painting locations this year include the Ximenez-Fatio House, Aviles Street, Charlotte Street, Lightner Museum, the St. Augustine Bayfront, Anastasia Island and the beaches, the Castillo de San Marcos.
