In 2008, Timothy Adams pleaded guilty to taking a 67-year-old jewelry store owner hostage in a seven-hour standoff with police in Journal Square
He spent nearly seven years in prison for the crime, including time served for a previous conviction. However, it was the time he spent in the prison library, reading and researching, that inspired him to work toward a better life.
