TEZPUR: Earthquake of magnitude 3.7 on the Richter scale hit Sonitpur in Assam at 6:13 PM today, National Center for Seismology said.
No damage or casualty has been reported so far.
According to NCS, the area is seismically very active falling in the highest Seismic Hazard zone V associated with collisional tectonics where Indian plate subducts beneath the Eurasian Plate.
Further, EQ Parameters: M: 3.7 with a Latitude of 26.74 N, Long: 92.45 E, and Depth of 10 Km.

GUWAHATI: In response to the series of earthquakes, detailed damage assessments are continuing with support from agencies like the DDMAs, PWD (Buildings), Fire & Emergency Services, NDRF, SDRF and experts from Assam Engineering College.
Damage assessments have been completed in 18 districts so far. A total of 428 residential houses/apartments, 148 various private and public institutions like schools, anganwadi centres, health centres, government buildings, Naamghars among others are reported to have been damaged. Such reports of damage have been reported from the districts of Baska, Biswanath, Bongaigaon, Darrang, Dibrugarh, Goalpara, Golaghat, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup Metro, Karbi Anglong, Lakhimpur, Morigaon, Nagaon, Nalbari, Sivasagar,
Fire claims 1 life, 123 houses damage in Dimapur
Kohima, Apr 30 (UNI) A devastating fire that broke out in Burma Camp area of Dimapur claimed one life and gutted over a hundred houses on the Wednesday night.
According to official release issued by the Fire & Emergency Services informed that they got the information at just after the midnight, where one male aged about 25 years was burnt to death and a total of 123 katcha houses along with household property worth about Rs.50 lakh were destroyed. Four fire-fighters from Fire Station (West) also responded. It took about 3 hours to douse the flames. Earlier, on April 28, one house was razed at Duncan Basti in a fire suspected to have erupted from the kitchen “due to drying of meat.” The release said that firefighters from Fire Station (West) were pressed into service. One bamboo structure, alongwith a Maruti Gypsy vehicle was destroyed by the fire.

In response to the earthquake yesterday detailed damage assessment continued with support from agencies viz. DDMAs, PWD( Building),Fire &Emergency Services, NDRF,SDRF and experts from Assam Engineering College. 20 aftershocks of varying magnitudes from 2.3 to 4.7 in Richter scale were also felt between 7.51 AM of 28th April 2021 to 6.00 PM of 29th April 2021 having epicenters in 4 circle areas of Sonitpur, Nagaon and Morigaom districts As per the reports received from the districts, total number of injured persons has gone up to 12, however, no casualties have been reported in last 24 hours.

Early Friday morning, the floor collapsed at a house party on Magnolia Bluff Drive. 25 people sustained minor injuries.
Many attendees fell from the first floor of the home into the crawl space below. Minor injuries were reported, according to Athens-Clarke County Fire & Emergency Services.Â
The number of attendees inside at the time of the collapse is disputed, but Lt. Shaun Barnett of the ACC Police Department estimated roughly 200 were present at the time. News outlets have reported there were 500 people at the party. A civic alert from the ACC Fire & Emergency Services said there were close to 500 people at the scene.
