Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is an annual holiday to celebrate equal rights and freedom of slaves in the United States. On June 19, 1865, federal troops freed the remaining slaves in Texas, enforcing the Emancipation Proclamation, a full 2½ years after its signing.
Celebrations and events will be held in southeast Michigan, and include supporting and shopping at Black-owned businesses, award ceremonies, music, films, food and live entertainment to acknowledge what s considered the longest-running African American holiday.

Washington, DC - Today, Acting Assistant Secretary of Energy for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy Kelly Speakes-Backman officially kicked off the U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon® Competition Event during the Solar Decathlon Opening Celebration.
Students from 72 teams, representing 66 collegiate institutions and 12 countries, are competing for top prizes in the 2020 Build Challenge and 2021 Design Challenge during the Competition Event.

Something about this eight-episode miniseries its wistful soundtrack, its themes of miscommunication, deflection, silence, and withholding encouraged me to keep generating my own language for it. I still haven’t looked up the dictionary translation for the Turkish phrase.
