Known as Open Dutch Fiber, it will deliver broadband across urban and higher population density areas in the Netherlands. Operations will begin this quarter, with a fully-funded commitment for an envisaged capital expenditure of approximately €700 million and construction agreements already in place.
T-Mobile Netherlands has been confirmed as the anchor tenant. T-Mobile, which has signed up to a 20-year agreement, currently has a mobile base of 6.8 million customers and a fixed base of 682,000.

T-Mobile Netherlands is hoping to reach 1 million Dutch households with fiber within five years through a partnership with Open Dutch Fibre, which is itself a joint venture between KKR Infrastructure and Deutsche Telecom Capital Partners. T-Mobile is pumping at least 700 million (US$832 million) into the project, according to Reuters. In the Netherlands, T-Mobile competes against incumbent KPN and VodafoneZiggo. KKR Infrastructure is becoming a significant player in the European fiber scene, having already secured a major stake in FiberCop, Italy s recently established last-mile network grid. Private equity giant KKR has teamed with investment manager DTCP to roll out a fiber infrastructure project in the Netherlands.
The pair have launched Open Dutch Fiber amid a strategic agreement between the business and T-Mobile Netherlands, which will be its anchor tenant on a 20-year agreement.
ODF will deploy fiber-to-the-home broadband in the Netherlands across urban and higher population density areas, aiming to deliver high-quality fiber connections to Dutch households and businesses.
