Oyo deploys ICT infrastructure for digital economy

Punch Newspapers Sections Published 1 June 2021 The Oyo State Government says it has begun its quest to build a digital economy through massive deployment of ICT infrastructure and digital skills training for civil servants in the state. The Special Assistant to the State Governor on ICT and E-governance, Mr Adebayo Akande, was quoted in a statement as saying that the massive deployment of ICT infrastructure had led to the digitisation of many government services in the last two years of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. “In the last two years, we have also rolled out data warehousing and data infrastructure in Oyo state where all Government data and documentation will be domiciled and accessed in real-time,” he said.

Share While some state governments are yet to realise the importance of Information and Communications Technology ICT) to the development of their state’s economy and tne people,  the Oyo state government has taken it upon itself to build a digital economy through massive deployment of ICT infrastructure and digital skills training for civil servants in the state. These, according to the Special Assistant to the governor on ICT and E-governance, Mr. Adebayo Akande, have led to the digitisation of many government services in the last two years of Governor Seyi Makinde’s administration. Highlighting some of the critical projects that have set the state on the right path to digitisation, Akande said the administration kick-started with the mass training of civil servants in digital skills and use of the digital collaborative and productivity tools. In addition, he said the government also rolled out official email addresses with @oyostate.gov.ng extension for all civil servants

NGO to reward citizens for reporting shady procurement processes

By Philip Yatai Zaria (Kaduna State), April 8, 2021 (NAN) The Follow Taxes, an NGO says it will reward citizens who consistently report irregularities in procurement processes in Kaduna State. The Co-Founder of the NGO, Dr Saied Tafida, made this known on the sidelines of two days training for State and Local Government procurement officers to improve Open Contracting Data Standard (OCDS). Tafida told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Zaria on Thursday that the organisation would also recognise outstanding Ministries, Department and Agencies (MDAs) who adhered to the OCDS. He said that the recognition would serve as an incentive to promote citizens participation and government’s response to complaints around procurement processes in the state.
