GREAT BEND TRIBUNE Weather, police pursuit contribute to highway crashes
A rollover crash on Interstate 70 in Trego County sent two men to the hospital Monday evening, but injuries were minor, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Garrett Todd Williams, 23, of Marquette, was driving an eastbound 2013 Ford Expedition at 4:55 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle due to the weather, 2 miles east of U.S. 283. It struck a piece of pavement in the turnaround, causing the vehicle to overturn an unknown number of times before coming to rest on its top in the median.
Garrett Williams and passenger Jeffery Todd Williams, 56, of Geneseo, were both wearing seat belts. They were both transported to Trego County-Lemke Memorial Hospital; Garrett with a suspected minor injury and Jeffery, who complained of pain, with a possible injury.
