Mr Biggs said: “We did explore it before and think it would be a proud tribute to our exciting and buzzing borough. Not just because of the Tower but also the fact we are a gateway to the future.
“However the previous feedback we had was that we were not yet far enough from the chaos and trashed reputation of the previous administration. We will talk again through our contacts. I will look into it.”
Councillors have said the Platinum Jubilee next year could be a good time for Tower Hamlets to finally receive the title.
Cllr Khan said: “On business and economy and an outwardly looking borough, I’m calling for a cross-party working group make a bid for Tower Hamlets to become The Royal Borough of Tower Hamlets or City Status.
A MAYOR has heaped praise on a woman who has been yarn bombing her street to cheer up fellow neighbours. Dorchester weaver Jean Croot has turned the front of her house in Casterbridge Road - and part of her street - into a knitting wonderland. Ms Croot s efforts have not gone unnoticed after her skills with a thread and needle have won praise from Dorchester mayor Richard Biggs and several councillors. Mr Biggs said: It s always heartwarming to see what people are doing in Dorchester during lockdown. Some things are inspiring and industrious from litter picking, tree planting to putting displays up in their windows and gardens to lift spirits.

Mayor John Biggs has announced a fresh injection of police funding for the borough in the days following Sadiq Khan s visit to Bethnal Green.
During a visit to area on Tuesday (February 16), the Mayor of London committed an extra £30million to policing which will ensure that more than 1,000 City Hall-funded Met officers can continue working over the next four years.
Two days on from that visit and his Tower Hamlets counterpart Mr Biggs pledged £1million from the council s budget to improve community safety.
Yes, there are live experiences. Yes, only time brought us devices which we used to consume music. Live performances are a thing, but devices are the primary mode of music consumption. They forge a relationship between humans and the music.
In the earlier days, devices were very stationery. While everything is usually done on our mobile phones these days, some eras had to start with stationed gramophones and vinyl players. In the 70’s, the world really changed for the better with the influx of new materials like the
24-track recording, cassette decks, Quad 8, Karaoke, the turntable and more.
But in Nigeria, the virality of mobile devices didn’t really begin till the 80’s and with the earliest influences of the burgeoning Hip-Hop culture.
