The Federation of Western Indian Cine Employees (FWICE) has issued a fresh set of guidelines to be followed by members of the film industry in view of the partial lockdown imposed in Maharashtra till April 30.
The guidelines have been issued in view of the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the country, particularly in Maharashtra. In a press release, the president of FWICE, B N Tiwari, General Secretary Ashok Dubey, Treasurer Gangeshwar Srivastav, and Chief Advisors Sharad Shelar with Ashoke Pandit said, The office-bearers of FWICE had a Zoom meeting with the honourable chief minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray. The FWICE has assured the CM that the industry will be responsible where the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) of the COVID guidelines are concerned. FWICE in coordination with experts has laid down guidelines which all people involved in pre-production, shooting and post-production work will have to adhere to.

A statement issued by FWICE reads: The office-bearers of FWICE had a Zoom meeting with the honourable Chief Minister, Shri Uddhav Thackeray. The FWICE has assured the CM that the industry will be responsible where the SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) of the COVID guidelines are concerned. FWICE in coordination with experts has laid down guidelines which all people involved in pre-production, shooting and post-production work will have to adhere. Please note that none of the below guidelines are up for negotiation. These guidelines as of now will be applicable till 30 April 2021.

22 february 2021 Lately, the Indian diamond industry, on the whole, had been reeling with the effects of the implementation of GST and demonetization with several diamond polishers losing their jobs. The Indian diamond trade has asked the Government for an amendment in taxation provisions to allow the sale of rough diamonds in the Special Notified Zone (SNZ) in Mumbai; and exemption of two-per cent equalization levy on rough diamond sales. According to industry members, miners could pay a ‘turnover tax’ not exceeding 0.16%, which is the prevailing rate in Belgium. Labourers are also demanding implementation of labour laws and Factory Acts in the diamond factories, claiming that around 10 polishers across the state had committed suicide in the last few months due to joblessness.
