Tripura: BJP and their ally IPFT (Indigenous Peoples Front of Tripura) suffered a shocking defeat on Saturday in the 2021 Tribal Council Polls in Tripura.
Pradyot Deb Burman led TIPRA (The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance), a new political outfit swept the Tripura Autonomous District Council polls by securing 18 out of 28 seats. The BJP and its ally managed to win only nine seats and the remaining one seat was won by an independent candidate. The Left front which emerged victorious in the last election failed to win any seats and so did the Indian National Congress.

Speaking to reporters, he said the BJP-led alliance would get an absolute and comfortable majority in Assam. Prominent BJP leader and Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Friday said that the BJP-led coalition will get a comfortable majority in the Assam elections, but may not get the expected 100 seats.
“We had an expectation of winning 100 seats, but may not get that. However I am confident of winning at least 84 seats,” Mr. Sarma said, after offering prayers at the Tripura Sundari Temple in Gomati district.
The Chairman of the North East Democratic Alliance (NEDA) paid a brief visit to the State for offering darshan at the 500-year-old temple in Udaipur town, 56 km south of Agartala.

Agartala, April 7 : Tripura Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on Wednesday tested positive for Covid-19 and went in home isolation.
Deb tweeted: I have tested positive for Covid-19. I have isolated myself at home as per the advice of doctors. I request everyone to please follow all the Covid appropriate behaviour and stay safe.
The Chief Minister during the last few weeks attended a large number of election rallies and events in connection with the April 6 polling to the Tripura Tribal Areas Autonomous District Council, which in terms of political significance is the second important constitutional and political institution after Tripura assembly.
