Is It Only Where God Dwells That Requires Random Covid Ticketing?

How sincere was Ontario Premier Doug Ford’s crocodile tear apology for the Covid clampdown that sees Canada’s most populous province tottering on bankruptcy when just three days later, his henchmen are back ticketing in-person church goers at Kitchener’s Trinity Bible Chapel? Within 24 hours of walking back what were the strictest coronavirus restrictions in North America, empowering police to make random stops on motorists to ticket those on the basis of being out on “non-essential” business,  he’s reverted to the newly implemented Covid Integrated Response Team (CIRT). In other words, the police are not doing the random stops the premier walked back following last week’s teary apology—they are now randomly picking spots to target churches!

Trinity Bible Chapel churchgoers issued tickets by police following service

KITCHENER Waterloo regional police have confirmed that they ve issued tickets to those leaving Trinity Bible Chapel following a church service. While the parking lot of the Woolwich Township church was not full like it was last week, a large, black tarp could be seen covering the back half of the property Sunday morning. In a statement sent to CTV News sent just before 12:30 p.m., regional police say officers were at the church, saw people in violation of the Reopening Ontario Act, and are currently issuing tickets to those leaving the premise. “This enforcement is a result of recent amendments to provincial legislation that allows officers to stop an individual believed to be violating COVID-19 related orders,” the statement reads in part.

Justice Centre successfully defends Ontario church against government attempt to lock its doors

WATERLOO: The Justice Centre for Constitutional Freedoms was in court today on behalf of Trinity Bible Chapel (Trinity), after the Attorney General went before a Justice for an urgent ruling that the church and its leaders were in contempt of court, and requested an order directing Sheriffs to immediately lock the church’s doors. Trinity has already faced contempt proceedings, after it continued to hold religious services against an enforcement order obtained by the government on January 22. On February 23, Trinity and its leaders were ordered to pay fines and costs totalling $83,000. That enforcement order is being challenged by the Justice Centre on constitutional grounds, and the matter is expected to be heard in July.
