Ces élections régionales laissent un étrange arrière-goût. Elles auront été révélatrices d une confusion politique généralisée et sont sans doute annonciatrices d un scrutin présidentiel balkanisé. Il faut insister d emblée sur une donnée-clé qui relativise les analyses expéditives : la déconnexion complète entre le niveau local et le niveau national. Pour les Français, ces élections ont été locales à 63%, soit 19% de plus qu en 2015 (Ifop). La deuxième raison de cette déconnexion se trouve dans l absence de présidents de région sortants issus des rangs de la majorité. Enfin, les Français n ont pas considéré ce scrutin comme une occasion de manifester leur rejet de la politique menée. Ainsi, ils n étaient que 33% à vouloir en faire un vote sanction contre le gouvernement (Ipsos).

The European Parliament has adopted a broad new resolution on Hong Kong, advocating tough measures be taken over the government s crackdown on the city s press freedom.
The 28-point resolution passed with broad support in the plenary session in Strasbourg on Thursday (July 8), with 578 members of Parliament voting to adopt it and 29 voting against it; 73 abstained.
The vote followed a debate in which a procession of MEPs took aim at Beijing s tightening of the screw in Hong Kong, particularly in response to the closure of the Apple Daily.
