All of the energy spent organizing in 2020 has allowed many local mutual aid groups keep people warm, housed, and fed during this weather emergency.

This week has been harrowing for countless Texans and the usual nonprofits were stymied by the weather emergency. Food banks postponed distributions and shelters suffered significant structural damage. Mutual aid groups and local activists, though, didn’t hesitate to do what they always do in their communities: find the most vulnerable individuals and get them immediate help.

Online foodie zine Eater has assembled a cockles-warming list of plex places not only open, but going above & beyond for folks in the cold dark. Thank you, Eater!! This is one of the nicest things Ive seen in the news during Snow-mageddon.
Also listed are the closings, but wow..really..look at all the places open around town ready to help you if youre cold & in the dark.

Freezing temperatures and dangerous driving conditions among a slurry of other weather- and power-related problems have caused several Dallas restaurants to close. Many shuttered their doors ahead of the snowy weekend and have yet to creak them back open. Some restaurants, cafes, and the like are braving the roads to reopen Tuesday, likely with limited hours.
