Scott Reeder: School safest place for kids
By Scott Reeder
Nah, I’d just assume you keep it in the bottle.
The cashier rolled her eyes at me and may have even smirked behind the mask. She’d likely heard the joke more than a few times. But in this time of COVID I thought it might be time for a bit of humor.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, she and millions like her have been showing up for work every day risking infection. Some people have labeled folks such as she “heroes.” I’m not so grandiose. I call them something better: “workers.”
William Urban: Global warming or global cooling
By William Urban
It’s a good week to ask this! It’s cold out! Now that the Biden administration is embarking on an ambitious program to slow climate change by reducing drastically the fifteen percent of world carbon-dioxide pollution that we produce, we can look once again (sigh) at the science behind it.
Fifty years ago we were told that we were on the verge of an ice age, fifteen years ago Al Gore said that by 2016 we would face irreversible catastrophic warming. Many people take this very seriously. Others remember how past predictions have been exaggerated, how the rapidly rising temperatures of twenty years ago slowed to a high but perhaps sustainable level, and the once steep and almost identical rise of carbon dioxide levels and global temperatures has ended. This, together with past “settled science” announcements about what we should eat and drink, what is healthy or not, and how much we should weigh, should give u
VT: A rape case filed against a newly elected Pennsylvania GOP prosecuting attorney, former school board member and prominent evangelical Christian, Chad Michael Salsman, has opened doors to a real “election steal,” this one Pennsylvania in 2016.
Salsman, a Trump acolyte rewarded with a position as District Attorney, has been arrested for raping women in his office.
This case is a coverup by the GOP, throwing Salsman under the “short bus” when real accusations are buried. As noted below, the door opened in 2018 when a detailed YouTube video by a Robert LeVesque detailed a massive human trafficking ring run by Pennsylvania militia types including motorcycle gangs.
Scott Reeder: Dumbed down language fails to uplift
By Scott Reeder
Joe Biden has advised his aides to avoid academic or elitist language when sharing ideas, but what stands out is how he told them to do it.
According to the New York Times, here is what he had to say: “Pick up your phone, call your mother, read her what you just told me. If she understands, we can keep talking.”
It’s surprising advice coming from a man married to a woman with a doctorate, who is also a mom. Mothers can speak in elitist or academic language just as much as anyone else.
