GORHAM â Selling flares for the annual Ring of Fire used to be a fundraiser for the Canandaigua Lake Watershed Association. In 2017, the organization decided that selling the chemical-laden pyrotechnics that light up the shoreline around the lake by the thousands each year didnât smell right for an organization dedicated to lake health.
Problem was, putting an end to the fundraiser didnât put an end to sales. There are still plenty of places to buy the chemical road flares that sizzle, fizzle and light up the shoreline with a fiery glow for the annual end-of-summer celebration.

Maybe it is because I am watching more television these days due to the COVID surge, and feel like I am seeing more cash-back commercials, because I can hear Kevin Hart in my sleep yelling about Chase Freedom cash back credit cards or because Samuel Jackson, who can be pretty scary, keeps telling me I need a Capital One cash back card but I feel like we need to revisit cash back credit cards and shopping apps.
When it comes to cash back credit cards, there are 6 things to know and remember.

VICTOR School officials are saying no in-person school for Victor students on Wednesday.
School officials are looking at the possible return of in-person learning for prekindergarten-third grade students in the gold cohort for Thursday and Friday, but that will not be known for certain until Wednesday afternoon.
Virtual learning for grades 4-12 will be in place for the remainder of this week, with the hope of having hybrid, in-person learning on Monday if possible.

Although I am a registered Democrat, I am saddened by the unjustified attacks on the integrity of the law-abiding majority of Donald Trump’s 74 million supporters by those who wish to erase all aspects of Trumpism from the public forum.
U.S. Rep. Brian Mast, R-Fla., is an Army veteran who, while deployed to Afghanistan, lost both legs and several fingers when he stepped on an improvised explosive device. But because Mast has been a staunch Trump supporter, CNN’s Jake Tapper questioned Mast’s patriotism and commitment to democracy. Mast replied to Tapper via Fox News’ Hannity program, “I lost my legs so you could say what you want, but I didn’t lose my legs so you could silence who you want.”

Mr. Biden won the election with both popular and electoral votes. Vice President Pence did the right thing by certifying the Electoral College despite objections by some Republicans. Now, Ms. Pelosi wants the objectors removed from Congress so she gains more power.
The same theme is echoed in a local law professor’s essay in the Daily Messenger on Jan. 14, 2021. He says they should not only be removed from office, but tried under a federal seditious conspiracy law. If so, then several Democrats should also be removed. They did the same thing in 2016, objecting to Trump’s election. Then-VP Biden did the right thing saying, It [the election] is over.”
