Tourism chiefs blast Boris Johnson for traffic lights travel chaos
Tourism chiefs blast Boris Johnson for traffic lights travel chaos David Churchill Transport Correspondent For The Daily Mail © Provided by Daily Mail MailOnline logo Travel chiefs reacted with fury tonight as ministers warned Britons not to book foreign holidays and refused to rule out extending the international travel ban into summer. Boris Johnson confirmed plans to replace the foreign holidays ban with a ‘traffic light’ system which would open up quarantine-free travel to destinations rated green. Higher-risk locations would be graded amber or red, with varying testing and quarantine measures for each category. But the PM stopped short of saying whether it would replace the blanket ban on foreign travel by May 17, failing to give any fixed date.

Ministers consider changing the school year to extend summer term
Ministers consider changing the school year to extend summer term Jack Maidment, Deputy Political Editor For Mailonline © Provided by Daily Mail MailOnline logo Ministers are considering changing the school year in England to keep classrooms open for longer in the summer term to help pupils recover from lockdown, it was claimed today. Number 10 is said to be weighing up a two-week extension in the warmer months, potentially cutting into the summer holidays, with the holiday time redistributed to existing breaks in the autumn and winter. One of the attractions for ministers of extending the summer term is that the weather would likely allow windows and doors to be kept open in school buildings to improve ventilation and reduce the risk of coronavirus spreading.

High Street retailers and luxury brands are BURNING or EU products
High Street retailers and luxury brands are BURNING or EU products Rory Tingle and Ross Ibbetson For Mailonline and Sean Poulter for the Daily Mail © Provided by Daily Mail MailOnline logo What are the extra charges and paperwork and why were they introduced? Shipping goods either way across the UK-EU border now takes longer and is more expensive since the UK left the EU s Customs Union and Single Market. Since January 1 a new customs regime has been in place that treats the UK as an external third country for goods being imported and exported into and out of the EU.

Elderly Britons may be missing Covid jabs because GPs are texting them
No10 says all areas HAVE had equal access to Covid vaccine supply Luke Andrews For Mailonline © Provided by Daily Mail MailOnline logo Number 10 has insisted all areas have had equal access to the coronavirus vaccine amid mounting anger over a jabs postcode lottery . The Prime Minister s spokesman dug his heels in on the claims today, saying ministers had ensured everywhere received the same supplies. Matt Hancock yesterday revealed some regions were lagging behind schedule in the rollout to over-80s despite No10 announcing the scheme was being expanded to all over-70s and adults with underlying conditions. But the Health Secretary hinted supplies have not been equally distributed, as he claimed they were being diverted to areas which were way off target.
