DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: I’m writing out of anguish and sadness. I’m a divorced man in my mid-50s. English is not my first language, but I learned it well enough. I’m told by women I’m a catch. I prefer to be humble. I’ve dated a few women in the past years.

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My brother promised me he would give me his car, which was our dad’s brand-new car when he died suddenly. It’s a beautiful car!
I was too young to drive it then. Fast-forward five years, and it’s been in my brother’s possession this whole time. I never asked for it, though I felt a strong connection to it.
My brother recently bought a new vehicle so I finally asked if I could have Dad’s car now that I’m driving, and he said, No way.
No explanation. He’s getting close to 30, and here he is acting like a three-year-old! I can’t just go and take the car, though he promised it and doesn’t even need it anymore. But legally, it’s in his name.

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: Valentine’s Day is coming and I’ve been knitting my sweetheart a present. Last night he said he didn’t think we should exchange gifts this year, because of the expense. That’s ridiculous! I’ve already made him most of a sweater, and he’s seen me knitting it. I told him that, and he shrugged his shoulders.

DEAR MISS LONELYHEARTS: My husband and I used to have a very close relationship the envy of all our friends. Now, we don’t! He made contact with his biological family and now he’s literally fallen in love with them. He’s on the phone all the time with them.
