4 Yampa Valley nonprofits get fundraising upgrade

Russell) STEAMBOAT SPRINGS For Andres Cladera, receiving 12 months of coaching on how to fundraise for his organization Opera Steamboat will forever be beneficial. The coaching will come from a program called Jumpstart, a 12-month capacity building fundraising program that partnered with the Yampa Valley Community Foundation to help smaller nonprofits develop better fundraising tactics.

Local artist explores musical themes in new exhibit

Guitars by Gregory Block STEAMBOAT SPRINGS You may recognize Gregory Block’s work from the mural that he painted downtown on Eighth Street a few months ago. That project was a collaboration with Steamboat Creates, and his submission, titled “Elevate,” incorporated musical instruments, performance and visual arts into the mural’s design. Now Gallery 89, which represents Block, will display a solo exhibit called “Music of Color” opening Friday. The paintings feature all different types of musical instruments everything from the classic wooden recorder played by elementary school children to violins, piano keys, flutes and both acoustic and electric guitars with the goal of reimagining the historic relationship between sight and sound.

Humane Society sponsors holiday pet photo contest From now through Dec. 17, the Routt County Humane Society is inviting people to get creative and upload their favorite holiday pet photo to Facebook or Instagram using the hashtag, #routtcountyholidaypets, for a chance to win more than $450 in prizes. People are encouraged to share their photos with friends and family as well as vote for their favorites by liking, loving or sharing the images. The three photos with the greatest engagement will win.
