On Tuesday, jurors convicted Chauvin on second-degree murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter in the death of George Floyd. Floyd’s murder sparked protests in the Grand Strand and Pee Dee last summer. Some called for racial equality, while others marched to support law enforcement.

Updated: 4:16 PM EDT Apr 22, 2021 A woman was bitten by a monkey that got loose Wednesday from the T.I.G.E.R.S. preserve in the Myrtle Beach area, authorities said.According to a report from the Horry County Police Department, officers were called to Keystone Lane in the Myrtle Beach area on April 21 for an animal attack. The victim said the monkey could possibly still be on the loose.The woman said she heard her dog barking outside, and when she went out to see why she saw the small monkey in her yard, the police report stated.“She stated that the monkey lunged at her and bit her on the arm,” according to the report. “She stated that once the monkey bit her, it lunged towards her chest. She had to go back Thursday because she still felt sick, and she’s left wondering how this all happened.

(WMBF) – Authorities are investigating a shooting Thursday in the Forestbrook community. According to information from the Horry County Police Department, the shooting happened around 11:40 a.m. on Canvasback Trail in Foresbrook. One person was taken to the hospital with injuries, authorities said. According to the HCPD, there is no threat to the public. Lisa Bourcier, spokesperson for Horry County Schools, said the district was advised the situation posed no threat to nearby Forestbrook Elementary School.
