Days after the deaths of 26 COVID-19 patients at the Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMCH) allegedly due to shortage of medical oxygen, an oxygen tank with a capacity of 20,000 litres is being installed at the state s largest COVID facility, said Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Friday. To ensure seamless oxygen supply and reduce dependence on the trolley system we have started installation of 20,000 Litres of Medical Oxygen Tank at Goa Medical College. This tank would be made operational on a war footing, Sawant tweeted.

Panaji (Goa) [India], May 15 (ANI): Governor Bhagat Singh Koshyari on Friday held a meeting with Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant and Health Minister Vishwajeet Rane, via video conferencing and reviewed the COVID-19 situation in state.
The Governor enquired about vaccination planning, oxygen supply, awareness, testing, involvement of university students and volunteers and other relevant issues, the official release said.Koshyari is also governor of Maharashtra.
On May 11, state Health Minister Vishwajit Rane had informed that 26 patients admitted to the state-run Goa Medical College and Hospital had died due to lack of oxygen. However, more deaths were reported on the subsequent days.

Panaji, May 13 : Former Tehelka editor-in-chief Tarun Tejpal s defence lawyer Rajeev Gomes died following Covid-related complications at a private hospital in South Goa district late on Wednesday.
The 47-year-old lawyer was Tejpal s lead lawyer in the rape trial, whose long-drawn proceedings wound up earlier this year.
The death occurred on the same day when a trial court adjourned the pronouncement of judgement in the case, due to paucity of staff. Goa is currently in the midst of a 14-day curfew which ends on May 23.

In an official statement, he said, It is once again clear that the insensitive and irresponsible BJP government has no concern for goans. The Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant promises to supply oxygen to neighbouring states like Maharashtra when Goa itself is facing shortage.
