Having to reschedule due to last weekâs winter weather system, the Killeen City Council is planning to hold its workshop meeting on Monday, followed by a regular council meeting on Tuesday.
Two issues related to impact fees, a long running issue for the council, are set to be discussed at the workshop meeting. These include a presentation on land use assumptions for such fees, as well as how they relate to the Capital Improvement Plan.
A public hearing on these issues has tentatively been set for March 9.
Charged to developers and builders, impact fees help municipalities recoup costs of building roads and infrastructure up to new developments and structures.
The Killeen Independent School District board of trustees will review Superintendent John Craftâs contract this week after voting to postpone the evaluation at the Jan. 19 board meeting.
For the past six years, as superintendent, Craft has been in charge of some 40,000 plus Killeen ISD students and 6,000 employees. Prior to his most recent title, he held the position of KISD deputy superintendent from 2012-14. Before that he was the superintendent of Hamilton School District, which currently boasts 817 students. He began his career in 1999 in Carroll ISD where he held the titles of biology teacher, football and baseball coach, assistant principal and principal.

A 16-year-old girl has never had more motivation to get her driver’s licence than she does now, after her father, who won the Nissan Datsun GO in The Herald win-a-car competition at the weekend, said he would give her the car.
Richard Barclay, 61, of Glendinningvale, was announced as the winner of the brand-new popular car on Friday. He will drive it home on Monday.
The competition, which ran from December 3 to January 28, was a collaborative event in celebration of Baywest Mall’s fifth birthday.
As part of the competition, Baywest Mall gave away eight R5,000 shopping vouchers on a weekly basis with Jessica Longhow, Duma Charles Mbete, Tracey-Leigh Henry and Gavin Fowler being the lucky winners in January.
