All-Star Mile wildcards: Australian Guineas winner Lunar Fox gets another chance to shock

Country three-year-old Lunar Fox will have a chance to repeat his shock Australian Guineas win after connections accepted a wildcard into Saturday week’s All-Star Mile at The Valley. Lunar Fox started at a record $301 when he sailed down the middle of the track to win the Australian Guineas at Flemington last Saturday. That effort convinced a Racing Victoria panel to offer the Paul Preusker-trained gelding’s connections a chance to race for a $2.25 million first prize at The Valley. Tasmanian star Mystic Journey won the Australian Guineas before going on to claim the inaugural running of the All-Star Mile at Flemington in 2019.

Guineas hope Master Of The Seas sunk by Godolphin stablemate Naval Crown | Horse Racing News

6:44PM, FEB 25 2021 Charlie Appleby and Godolphin enjoyed another highly productive day at the Dubai World Cup Carnival despite seeing their 2,000 Guineas contender Master Of The Seas suffer a surprise defeat behind stablemate Naval Crown on his reappearance in the Listed 1m1f Meydan Classic. Master Of The Seas, was making his first start since finishing a close fourth in the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh last September. That came at the end of a highly successful two-year-old campaign in which he won his first two starts, including the Group 2 Superlative Stakes at Newmarket. Ridden by William Buick, Master Of The Seas was sent off 4-11 but took a keen hold in the early stages and could not reel in Mickael Barzalona on the front-running Naval Crown.
