The Decatur Housing Authority board will interview five candidates, including one local applicant, by video conference Monday to find a new leader of the authority designated as having âsubstandard management in 2019.
The board chose to replace the authority s co-directors with one executive director. Chief Operations Officer Andy Holloway and Building Director Jeff Snead, who acted as co-directors, are retiring. Hollowayâs last day is Jan. 8. Sneadâs official last day is Feb. 18, but he built up enough leave so his final work day was Sept. 15.
The board voted at a called meeting last week to interview by video conference one internal candidate and four external candidates.

Decatur employees will receive a $400 holiday bonus that will cost the city $200,000, despite one city councilman questioning the wisdom of making the unbudgeted expenditure given the financial uncertainty caused by the pandemic.
Hartselle, Moulton and Priceville also plan holiday bonuses, and Athens will give employees additional paid days off.
Decatur s City Council approved the $400 bonus for each of the 500 full-time employees at Mondayâs meeting with a 4-1 vote. This is in addition to a previously approved $100 benefit employees receive for participating in the health program.
Councilman Carlton McMasters suggested the bonus, and his fellow new councilmen supported the proposal.
