Carlisle judge jails controlling boyfriend Mark McCarron

A JEALOUS and controlling boyfriend repeatedly prosecuted for offences against his partners has been jailed for more than four years. Mark Colin McCarron, 30, subjected his latest two girlfriends to controlling an coercive behaviour, in one case taking over every aspect of his victim s life, Carlisle Crown Court heard. He left both women fearful, distressed - and in debt. The defendant - who has lived in Whitehaven, Carlisle and Workington - admitted two almost identical offences against consecutive girlfriends. The court heard that he committed the more prolonged offence between December 2019, and August the following year. Recorder Mark Rhind QC outlined how, within a month of coming into the woman s life, he had moved in with her.

Thief broke court order at Morrisons York store

One of the entrances to Morrison s store in Foss Islands Road “IT would really be a refreshing change if you stop coming to court and appearing before me.” Those were the words of district judge Adrian Lower to persistent offender Mary Jane Allan at York Magistrates Court. He was sentencing her for breaching a court order that banned her from one shop and for stealing from another shop. The judge gave her a new shop ban – for the Spar shop in Lowther Street for 12 months – and reminded her that the restraining order barring her from Morrison’s superstore in Foss Islands Road remains in force until January 2023.

Jury shown CCTV of Nissan Navara truck used in Lee McKnight murder

1/1 A JURY in a murder trial have been shown CCTV images allegedly tracking the movements of some defendants on the day Lee McKnight died. Among the key images shown at Carlisle Crown Court, were ones that trace the movement of the Nissan Navara pickup truck, which the prosecution says was used to transport the 26-year-old to the River Caldew where he was “dumped.” The images mostly covered events in the early hours of July 24 last year, before and after the time when Mr McKnight was found in the river by a farmer who contacted police. Six people deny murder. They are: Jamie Davison, 26, of Beverley Rise, Harraby; Arron Graham, 26, of Blackwell Road, Currock; Jamie Lee Roberts, 18, of Grey Street, Carlisle; his father Paul Roberts, 51, also of Grey Street; Coral Edgar, 26, of Charles Street, and her mother Carol Edgar, 47, also of Charles Street.
