St. Paul City Council Votes To Request POST Review Of Ramsey County Sheriff’s Livestreams CBS Minnesota 5/6/2021 Syndicated Local – WCCO | CBS Minnesota MINNEAPOLS (WCCO) The St. Paul City Council voted Wednesday to approve a request to Minnesota’s Peace Officers Standards and Training Board to review livestreams produced by the Ramsey County sheriff. Since October 2020, Sheriff Bob Fletcher has been streaming patrols through the county on Facebook and YouTube under the title “Live On Patrol”. The sheriff’s YouTube page says his “goal is to help inform and educate the public regarding the job of law enforcement in hopes of building community trust and relationships through transparency.”

In the east metro alone, there are nearly 1,000 officers who can be called in and about 1,000 Minnesota National Guard members who will be available.

Police are investigating a 2-year-old boy s death and say they are waiting on a ruling from the medical examiner.  If his death is a confirmed homicide, police say it would be the 34th in the city this year - tying the most ever set back in 1992.   The boy was shot Wednesday at an apartment building off of Rice Street. Medics rendered aid, but the boy died in an ambulance about eight minutes after the initial call.
