In January 2021, United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) issued new I-9 guidance regarding the completion of Form I-9 for certain employees working pursuant to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) Program. The new guidance specifically addresses the situation where an employee presents an unexpired Employment Authorization Document (EAD) with category code of C33 that was issued on or after July 28, 2020, along with an I-797 Extension Notice issued by USCIS that shows a one-year extension of their deferred action and work authorization under the DACA program.
Background
U.S. Customs and Border Protection apprehended or turned away more than 178,600 people at the U.S.-Mexico border last month, marking what continues to be a growing border crisis.
The last time monthly border apprehensions exceeded this total was in April 2001, the all-time record year for illegal immigration with more than 1.6 million arrests. Unlike now, Border Patrol custody numbers back then were trending downward from March 2001, with more than 220,000 arrests.
Of those illegal aliens taken into custody in April this year, more than 111,000 were single adults not seeking asylum and who were subject to expulsion under Title 42. More single adults have been apprehended so far this year than the total number of families that were apprehended in all of 2019 during the last border crisis.

President Joe Biden will deliver the address at the Coast Guard Academy s commencement ceremony May 19, his first at a service academy as commander in chief.
The ceremony marks the school s 140th graduation and Biden s second keynote address there: He spoke at the event in 2013 as vice president.
Academy Superintendent Rear Adm. Bill Kelly said Monday the school is honored to host the president. It will be a memorable event for our community, as well as a great opportunity to showcase the Academy and the city of New London on a national stage, he said.
Americans Disapprove Biden’s Handling of Border Crisis: Poll
More Americans disapprove of President Joe Biden’s handling of the border security and the influx of unaccompanied children as illegal immigrants at the southern border reach record highs.
According to a new poll conducted by the Associated Press and the NORC Center for Public Affairs Research, while Biden has an overall approval rating of 61 percent, 55 percent of Americans disapprove of his handling of border security 56 percent disapprove of his immigration policies.
Customs and Border Protection (CBP) figures show that illegal crossings rose to over 100,000 in February. “The highest February that we had seen in 20 years,” former acting Secretary of Department of Homeland Security Chad Wolf told The Epoch Times.
