Wildcard Kostecki keen to lean on established WAU Repco Supercars Championship By James Pavey
Being able to lean on two champion drivers and a champion team has Kurt Kostecki ready to maximise his three wildcard appearances for Walkinshaw Andretti United.
Kostecki will line up in a third WAU entry at this weekend’s OTR SuperSprint as part of a three-event wildcard campaign.
The 2019 Super2 runner-up will join 2020 Super2 champion Thomas Randle in an expanded 26-car grid for the Tailem Bend, Darwin and Perth events.
This weekend marks Kostecki’s first main game start since last October’s Bathurst 1000.
Kostecki, whose brother Jake and cousin Brodie will also be on the grid, made his full-time main game debut aboard a Kostecki Brothers Racing entry at the 2018 Tailem Bend and Ipswich events.
Thomas Randle to race for Tickford Racing as wildcard in three Supercars rounds

Tickford Racing will temporarily expand back out to a four-car team at select rounds this year as it announced today that reigning Super2 champion Thomas Randle would drive a wildcard entry throughout 2021.
A former international rising star and open-wheel specialist, Randle has shown strong form in previous Supercars appearances having taken a pair of 17th place finishes as a wildcard at the 2019 round at The Bend Motorsport Park for Tickford Racing, followed by a ninth, sixth, sixth and third in the endurance races with Lee Holdsworth.
The 18-year-old was competing in the S5000 series when he closed-in on pole-sitter Thomas Randle.
“Got a good start and the bloke in front of me decided not to let me pass,” Herne said in a video posted to his Facebook page.
His hospitalisation, just a precaution.
Earlier, Herne claimed a round win in the Trans Am series.
He placed second in race three – but his podium finishes in earlier races were enough to get him over the line.

Tickford confirms Alex Prémat and James Moffat as co-drivers

Tickford Racing has confirmed Alexandre Prémat and James Moffat as co-drivers with Thomas Randle for the 2021 Supercars Championship season endurance races.
Prémat, who won the 2019 Bathurst 1000 race with Scott McLaughlin, will make his debut for the team this year. The Frenchman tested for the team in early 2020 in preparation for an endurance drive, something that was stopped due to the pandemic.
“Finally. I’m mega delighted to come back to the Bathurst 1000,” said Prémat.
“I missed it so much last year and I am ready to put my hat in the ring this season. I’m very motivated to come back, especially after seeing how well the Tickford team did in 2020. I can’t wait to get back to Australia later this year and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”
