UWSP to Host Walk-In COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic This Weekend

STEVENS POINT, WI (WSAU) — A partnership between the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point and Marshfield Clinic has led to one of the region’s first walk-in clinics for COVID-19 vaccine. The two entities will be offering 1,000 of the single-dose Johnson and Johnson vaccine at the Marshfield Clinic Health System Champions Hall located at 2050 4th Ave. UWSP Chancellor Thomas Gibson says the clinic will open at 9 AM Saturday, April 10th and will run until all the shots have been administered. Plans for the clinic have been in the works for several weeks and Gibson says the only real challenge was getting an adequate supply of the vaccine reserved. “Marshfield Clinic has been great partners and we’re certainly looking forward to helping support the University as well as the greater community in this way.”

One thousand shots will be given on a first come first serve basis. Chancellor Thomas Gibson says it s another way of beating the virus. “It serves as a signal that we are indeed turning the corner, and we’re nearing a more familiar life.” The clinic will be offering the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine meaning it ll be one and done for anyone that can get in. “Folks are really excited about the prospect of being able to have one and be done, if you will.” Gibson hopes students will take advantage of the clinic especially since they are offering the single-shot Johnson and Johnson vaccine.
