Colorado Rockies News: Rockies position player reinforcements

Earlier this week, Justin Wick took a look at what the Colorado Rockies have in reserve for bullpen arms if a call-up is to be made. The bullpen has been an atrocity, especially lately, so seeking an answer to the question of “What else we got? ‘Cause this ain’t working” is pertinent. That got me thinking about the other side of the ball. We’ve already seen Alan Trejo, Connor Joe and Matt Adams receive the call to the big leagues this season, so what other reinforcements do we have laying around in the minors? In any season, injuries and underperformance are bound to occur throughout the campaign and this season the Rockies are more of a clear “seller” than ever, so spots could open in the not too distant future because of departure as well.

Biggest questions facing each National League West team

share-square-817960 As the second month of the 2021 season nears its conclusion, the National League West remains one of the most competitive divisions at the top. The Giants, Padres and Dodgers continue to battle for the lead, and the race could stay tight all year. Meanwhile, the D-backs and Rockies have endured some recent struggles and injury woes but each has talented young players who could help lead a turnaround over the next four months, especially as the teams get healthier. However, each of these teams regardless of its position in the NL West has questions that need to be answered if it wants to stay at the top of the division or work its way up there. For some, these could lead to crucial decisions that will be made over the course of the summer and into the second half of the season.

Rockies to reinstate Senzatela from injured list

Originally posted on MLB Trade Rumors  |  By Anthony Franco  |  Last updated 5/10/21 The Rockies are planning to reinstate Antonio Senzatela from the injured list, manager Bud Black told reporters (including Thomas Harding of MLB.com) Sunday. The righty will start Monday evening’s game against the Padres. Senzatela went on the IL May 1 with a right groin strain, so he’ll return after spending the minimum 10 days on the shelf. He has managed only a 5.76 ERA/4.67 SIERA over his first six starts. The 26-year-old throws a lot of strikes and induces plenty of ground balls, but he’s one of the league’s worst at missing bats. Senzatela’s 13.1% strikeout rate ranks 131st out of 136 starters with at least 20 innings pitched this season.

Colorado Rockies news: Revisiting the Rockies on Mother s Day

The second Sunday in May is a day dedicated to the women who brought us into the world. We spoil our mothers with cards, flowers, and, if we are lucky, a Colorado Rockies victory. I love seeing the pink-themed hats, jerseys, bats, and other equipment that adorns the players on the field each year as they celebrate the women who helped them get to where they are now. Unfortunately, in their franchise history, the Rockies have struggled on the matriarch holiday and have become a team only a mother could love. In 27 matchups, the Rockies have compiled a dismal record of 10-17. In those games, the Rockies have been outscored 154-121, while also getting shut out on three separate occasions. They have had their fair share of issues, but as I did with Easter earlier this season, I want to focus on some of the highlights that have occurred on the holiday.
