EastEnders fans were left gobsmacked on Friday evening as Bernie Taylor (Clair Norris) told Stuart (Ricky Champ) and Rainie Highway (Tanya Franks) that she wanted to be their surrogate.
Looking ahead at these episodes, Clair Norris spoke a bit about why Bernadette would make such a life-changing decision. The Taylors are well known for not being fortunate with money – sharing food, getting coupons and vouchers together to get through the day and missing out on meals, she said. I think Bernie really notices it more because she is getting older now and has to be more responsible, whereas when she was younger she was blindsided and told not to worry. Now that is reflected onto Bailey. For Bernie, she takes it upon herself to get money, and even though she works at the call centre, it s just not enough, so she tries to find another way. Through hearsay and gossip on The Square, and what Tiffany went through, she finds out that Rainie and Stuart are still looking for a surrogate. She decides that this will be the best way to get a lot of money that could change the Taylors lifestyle and living conditions, that s why she goes to them and wants to be their surroga
