(ABC 6 News) - After Gov. Tim Walz lifted many COVID restrictions, people are beginning to head back to work. But what about the dogs hanging out at home?
This is good news for local doggy daycare businesses. We are growing everyday now, every week, every month. It s at least a 50 percent increase or more. It s a very good thing. Yes, absolutely. The more dogs the better, Abby Buck, store manager at Central Bark, said.
For Central Bark Rochester daycare, its the puppies that are driving business. So, they got a puppy, but then their puppy doesn t really know how to be alone. So, we ve seen a lot of clients coming in to get their puppy some socialization, especially with social distancing. We want to do it in a safe way, Taylor Ohm, store manager at Central Bark, said.

AUSTIN Cari Jessop isn t sure whether Zeke and Willy will keep those names or get new ones.
Jessop and her son, Vincent, took home a pair of 4-month-old kittens Tuesday from the Mower County Humane Society, joining the parade of people who did the same last year.
The animal care center had a banner year in 2020 finding homes for cats and dogs, placing 499 animals – 285 cats and 214 dogs – an increase of 63 cats and 46 dogs from 2019, which saw a total of 390 adoptions.
Other Opinion: The year 2020 wasn t all bad
People can t wait to see the end of 2020, but many made the most of a bad year.

There s no doubt 2020 has been a year to forget: Protests over inequality, devastating wildfires, a record-setting hurricane season and a contentious election teamed up to complicate our lives.
Then there s the capper of them all, a worldwide pandemic that has sickened millions and killed nearly 2 million, 323,000 in the United States alone.
It s easy to see why people say they can t wait for the new year.
But, believe it or not, 2020 wasn t all bad. Here are some positive takeaways from a challenging year.
1/1 A GREENFIELD schoolgirl has been praised by her proud grandmother for smashing her charity fundraising aims. She also set herself a fundraising target of £300. Her grandmother Tanya Johnson confirmed the cut went ahead as planned on December 12, explaining: It was brilliant. We asked her if she was nervous, but she just said no - I really want to do it. She was so excited, she was beaming. She loves her new hair and she has already asked me how long it will take to grow because she s thinking of doing it again. And the amount she s raised is amazing.
