TAMPA â The Hillsborough County School District wants to offer its iconic downtown Tampa headquarters for sale, a cost-saving move that not everyone thinks is a good idea.
An item on Tuesdayâs School Board meeting agenda calls for the district to declare the 1.54 acre site at 901 E Kennedy Blvd. âsurplusâ and âdeemed unnecessary for educational purposes,â then put it on the market.

Efforts to get the coronavirus vaccine to Florida school employees have begun to pay off.
The Pinellas County health department on Tuesday began providing first round inoculations to all school district employees 65 years of age or older. The department has set aside appointment times for the districtâs approximately 1,300 workers in that category at three sites â Clearwater, St. Petersburg and mid-county â through Jan. 25.

TAMPA â Lawmakers in Hillsborough County and beyond are expressing concerns about financial problems in the Hillsborough County School District, and possible consequences from the state.
While there is no evidence that the state plans to take any action, a conversation between two lawmakers appears to have prompted a Zoom meeting on Tuesday with more than a dozen participants.
